These new proprietary system-on-chip (SoC) units are designed to take on the likes of AMD and Intel. Alongside the MacBook Pro (2021) models, Apple has brought the AirPods (3rd generation) as its new truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds as well as Apple Music Voice plan for those looking to access music through their voice. The company also introduced its new HomePod mini colours. Air Quality in India Got Worse Since the Installation of Outdoor Air Purifiers: Here’s Why

Delhi residents were exposed to air that does not meet the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for more than half of 2020. With Winter coming, air pollution in India is going to once again hit crisis levels soon. At the individual level we can wear masks and use air purifiers in our homes, but more broadly, cities and municipalities have also been installing outdoor air purifiers over several years now — but do these actually work? Have smog towers and outdoor air purifiers made an impact on the air quality in India? Despite the outdoor air purifiers and smog towers, the PM2.5 concentration in India air is currently 5.2 times above the WHO annual air quality guideline. The air quality in India is simply not getting better even after all the money and efforts spent to curb the air pollution problem in the country. We talked to a number of experts to try and understand why this is, and whether there are any better solutions possible. Cities like Mumbai have been deploying Wind Augme

The notch on the new MacBook Pro breaks several menus, but it's easy to fix — here's how.

Image
If you're experiencing trouble with the camera notch on the new MacBook Pro, here's an easy workaround. Apple's latest MacBook Pro models are powerful creative machines, but they have a flaw. Menu functionality on some apps is being broken by the notch at the top of the screen that houses the webcam. Apple offers a solution that keeps apps below the notch until app developers update their apps to leave the notch region alone. If you've seen any of the videos showing some apps' strange behaviour around the notch region on the new MacBook Pros, you know how broken macOS' present notch behaviour is. Menus may appear beneath the notch, or other items such as battery indications may become stuck beneath it, appearing only when the user moves the mouse cursor across the notch area. It's an unappealing appearance, but there's a quick fix. Here's how to repair the notch issue on the MacBook Pro temporarily: Using control click. To bring up the context menu,

Apple TV will soon be available on Comcast's X1 cable boxes.

Remember when you had to snip the cord? Folks, we've come full circle. The Apple TV app is coming to Comcast's Xfinity X1 boxes and the company's future XClass smart TVs. According to The Verge, CEO Brian Roberts confirmed this during an earnings call this week. Apple is also including Comcast's Xfinity Stream TV app on Apple TV devices as a demonstration of good faith. That's what I call synergy. While this isn't a huge deal, it's still interesting that cable subscribers can view Apple TV shows like Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and other unique Apple entertainment. At this time, it's unclear whether Xfinity customers will have to pay any extra costs to enjoy Apple TV programming. Comcast has already negotiated arrangements with Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, and Disney Plus in the United States, so Apple is a touch late to the game. On the call, Roberts stated, "Our value to the streaming universe will continue to rise." "Today's Apple ann

Review Roundup: Should you upgrade to Apple’s new AirPods? Let’s see what reviewers are saying

Image
Apple outfitted the new AirPods with a new design and upgraded sound and the results are promising. For Apple fans, the introduction of AirPods was revolutionary. The true wireless earbuds were initially introduced nearly five years ago, and they have seen a few different upgrades and iterations since. This week, the company’s highly anticipated third-generation of AirPods finally hit the market, and reviewers have already gotten their hands on the new earbuds. The AirPods 3, or 3rd Generation as Apple is calling them, features a pretty big design overhaul, bringing them closer in line with the higher-end AirPods Pro. The earbuds also feature a decent upgrade in sound with a new custom driver. The AirPods 3 seem to be presented as a sort of middle ground between the second-generation earbuds and the Pros. The price of the new earbuds is situated right in between the two, at $179, and they include significant upgrades over the AirPods 2, but lack a few premium features found in the Pros

Chinese missile launch very concerning, says top US general

Image
The top US general has said China's suspected hypersonic missile test is close to a Sputnik moment, referring to the Soviet satellite launch that sparked a Cold War arms race. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley said in an interview with Bloomberg News that the Chinese military was "expanding rapidly". The Financial Times reports that the test stunned the US military. Beijing denies any missile test, saying instead it was a spacecraft. "What we saw was a very significant event of a test of a hypersonic weapon system. And it is very concerning," Gen Milley told Bloomberg. "I don't know if it's quite a Sputnik moment, but I think it's very close to that. It has all of our attention." His comment is the first official acknowledgement by the US of claims that China conducted two missile tests over the summer. Reports indicate that it was a nuclear-capable missile that could evade US air defence systems. The 1957 Soviet satellite
